Army Assesses Military Base Attack in Yobe
The Nigerian army says it is assessing the security situation in Jilli, Yobe state, where Boko Haram terrorists attacked a military base.
The chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, is currently in Maiduguri, where he has been meeting with operational commanders to review the ongoing counter-terrorism operations and incidences like the attacks in Jilli and Bama.
The theatre commander of operation Lafiya dole, says while there were no fatalities on Nigerian troops in Bama, there were some at the military location in Jilli, and the situation was being managed.
He added that the army was working with other security agencies to ensure that normalcy is restored across areas in the northeast still experiencing pockets of attacks by the terror group.
General Nicholas appealed for caution in speculation and reporting of details of ongoing operations in the northeast, as they may have negative impact on troop’s activities.
