Senate Leader Lawan Asks Saraki, Dogara To Resign
A new chapter appears to have been opened in the lingering leadership crisis in the national assembly with the senate leader, Ahmed Lawan, ahead of Tuesday’s resumption, asked the senate president, Bukola Saraki and the speaker, Yakubu Dogara to tow the path of honour by vacating their current positions.
In an exclusive
interview with AIT Lawan urged both Saraki and Dogara to peacefully
relinquish their seats to his ruling all progressives congress to
constitute a new leadership.
He argued that it was an aberration for
both men to want to continue to cling to power at the expense of his
ruling APC which he said still enjoys the majority in both chambers.

Lawan said he does not expect the issue
to generate any unnecessary “heat” but something that should happen
automatically without destabilizing the national assembly.

The senate leader however said the
national assembly will urgently attend to the critical issue of INEC
