Rivers NSCDC Arrest Suspected Oil Thieves

The Rivers state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested fifty four suspected oil thieves with twelve trucks loaded with adulterated petroleum products, and impounded one barge and a vessel.
The state commandant of NSCDC, Mohammed Lawal Haruna who disclosed this at the command headquarters in Port Harcourt court said the suspects were apprehended in various parts of the state.


The commandant Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC)rivers state command Mohammed Lawal Haruna while parading the suspects alleged to have stolen twelve trucks loaded with adulterated petroleum products, one hundred and seventy drums of A.G.O, three boats, two buses, one barge and a vessel all loaded with crude oil products said the feat was achieved as a result of the strong synergy with other security agencies in checkmating the activities of oil thieves in the state.


Haruna however warned those who get involved in the act of stealing the nation’s critical national assets to desist.    
The NSCDC boss added that the command’s core mandate is to ensure that the issue of oil theft, illegal destruction of pipelines and vandalism are drastically reduced to the barest minimum.    

             
According to him, the items were recovered between May and September two thousand and eighteen other arrested suspects are currently facing trials in court.
