President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that he will re-contest the presidency in 2019; laying to rest, months of speculation over whether he will re-contest or not.

Buhari made the declaration at the All Progressives Congress National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Monday in Abuja, about 50 minutes ago.
The APC NEC also passed a resolution waiving section 31 of the APC Constitution which makes it mandatory for those interested in party executive positions to resign.
This resolution confers eligibility on the party’s National Working Committee to re-contest even while still in office.
