FG Advocates Integrated Reform Of F-SARS

There is the need to come up with an integrated framework of action to support the Nigeria government’s efforts at reforming the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad.
Deputy chief of staff to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Adeola Rahman, said this in Abuja on Tuesday at the opening of the expert roundtable on the reform of F-SARS and the role of external accountability agencies.
The deputy chief of staff explained that the F-SARS that Nigerians want is one that is accountable to the law and not law unto itself.

Also speaking, the acting director general, bureau of public service reforms, BPSR, Dasuki Alabi, said the roundtable was designed to look at the structure and mandates of various mechanisms to create strong accountability model for F-SARS in performance of its duties.
He added that the output of the roundtable discussion will be articulated in BPSR policy note that will be presented to the federal government as it further re-engages with the police high command on reforming the F-SARS.

The two day talk shop put together by the bureau of public service reforms was tailored to finding ways of ensuring that the Federal – SARS, as a branch of the Nigerian police, like any other opening of state, are accountable to the government, among other things.
